Introductory Python & Robotics 

8 weekly sessions

June 29 – August 21, 2020

8:30a - 4:00p / 5:30p extended day

 

Junior Coders: Grades 3 - 6

Coders: Grades 7 - 12

 

Group size: 4 coders

All coders grouped by age/grade, coding experience, and gender (if desired)

Group instructors: Enthusiastic college students

majoring in computer science and/or engineering

Coders are immersed in computer programming and learn how to engage with a humanoid robot.  Junior coders enjoy a fun and interactive introduction to programming and use both Scratch and Python to engage with Marty the Robot.  Upper-level coders develop a strong foundation in Python and use Python and JavaScript to engage with Misty the Robot. Course progress tracked in Google Classroom. Group robotics demos for parents every Friday.

Typical daily schedule

8:30a   Arrival and setup

9:00a   Coding workshop

10:30a  Snack break

10:45a  Coding workshop

12:00p  Lunch and games @ Underwood Park

1:00p   Coding and robotics

4:00p  Regular end of day / In-house games like foosball,

ping pong, air hockey, and Magic: The Gathering

5:30p   Extended end of day (no added fees)

Logistics

Coders must bring their own laptops (a recent PC or Mac, no Chromebooks)

We use Python IDLE for coding, free to download from python.org

No previous coding experience required

Coders must bring their own lunch

*10% off through February 15, 2020*

Early registration by January 15, 2020:  $695 / $625 with discount

Regular registration:  $750​ / $675 with discount

Make initial 50% payment and final payment one month later

Registration fees are refunded minus an administrative fee of $50

25% of registration fees are refunded
